Introduction

JHWalter has been involved in a wide array of sustainable development projects including renewable energy, low energy housing and sustainable development for nearly ten years. Five years ago, the specialist team of SRM was formed to provide independent advice on feasibility, design, funding and sourcing of renewable technologies and sustainable design.

In addition, SRM works with communities to address sustainability and assess the opportunities of renewables and retrofitting existing housing in order to reduce energy consumption. We work with villages, transition towns and other groups identifying technology options, recommending providers and advise on the management structures necessary including the formation of community owned Energy Supply Companies.

Drawing upon this established knowledge base and the rapidly changing world in terms of environment and politics, SRM provides practical solutions and an innovative approach to renewable energy and sustainable design. In addition SRM also links social enterprise and communities to the core issues of countryside and resource management.

SRM now works with both the public and private sectors, and as well as providing advice and direction, becomes practically involved through managing projects from conception to completion.
